Marvel’s new Young Avengers comic book series (part of Marvel NOW) coming January 2013

Young Avengers #1

On sale in January 2013, Marvel is introducing a new series, Young Avengers. Part of Marvel NOW, the Marvel initiative to bring their comic book series more in line with the modern day, Young Avengers will be a part of the storyline that moves Marvel Universe in a new direction.

Axel Alonso, Editor in Chief of Marvel Entertainment explained:

“The Young Avengers are the team of tomorrow and an important step in right direction for the Marvel Universe. This team’s youth is going to make for some very interesting stories as they forge a unique place for themselves in a world populated by super-powered characters. And there’s no substitute for hard work. You’ll be watching a team grow into one of the Marvel Universe’s most powerful forces.”

The Young Avenger team will consist of Wiccan, Hulkling, Hawkeye with Loki, Marvel Boy, and Miss America.  Issue #1 is expected to tell the story of how Loki put the Young Avengers team together.  Each issue of Young Avengers will feature special augmented reality content available exclusively through the Marvel AR app (at no additional cost). Young Avengers #1 will be written by Kieron Gillen with art by Jamie McKelvie and Mike Norton.
