Rechargeable AA battery with built-in USB port

This is a cool idea – if it works.  A rechargeable AA battery, called Continuance, with a USB port in the side that lets you plug in and recharge or power your smartphone or tablet device on the go.  Charge a few of these Continuance batteries up in your battery charger, toss a few in your bag, and you have an emergency power supply ready for a quick boost of energy when your device decides to roll over and die.  The device is a “concept” model designed by Haimo Bao, Hailong Piao, Yuancheng Liu and Xiameng Hu.  I’m not sure whether the circuitry and port will fit inside the battery casing nor whether the voltage will be able to match the USB spec.  Regardless, it’s a great idea that I would love to see come to fruition.
