Wi-Fi controlled light bulb kit

Greenwave Reality is set to roll out Wi-Fi controlled light bulbs which will allow you to control your lighting with a hand-held remote or your smartphone or tablet device. The wireless LED lighting kit includes four 40-watt equivalent bulbs, a remote control, and a gateway box that you connect to your home router.

Each bulb has its own IP address and when screwed in, will pair up with the gateway and mesh with the other bulbs on the network. You can control up to 500 bulbs through a single network. The bulbs “operate on channels other than those of common Wi-Fi networks to avoid interference”. Using a remote or tablet device, you can control the brightness, set timers, and of course turn them on or off. You can also group bulbs into segments and control several bulbs at once.

“For example, before bed, consumers can simply press the “night” Smart Control to turn off all lights, eliminating the need to go from room to room to turn lights off.”

The bulbs can coexist with existing manual light switches too.

Greenwave Reality will sell the kits through your local utility and lighting companies. Kits run around $200 with individual bulbs costing less than $20 each.
